Minister of communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stressed the importance of digital transformation inclusivity at the International Digital Dialogue Conference (IDDC) 2024 in Berlin, Germany.
Menkomdigi Meutya said the basic principles in digital transformation include inclusiveness, empowerment and trust.
“Digital transformation must be driven by fundamental principles such as inclusiveness, empowerment and trust. Therefore, the government of Indonesia, especially the Ministry of Communications and Digital, prioritizes the availability of reliable and affordable internet access for all citizens, creating a digital economy ecosystem that empowers the community, and increasing media and digital literacy among the community,” said the minister during a speech at IDDC 2024, in a press release received in Jakarta, Sunday.
Kemkomdigi, in addition to providing views on digital transformation, on that occasion, also signed a memorandum of understanding with the German Ministry of Digital and Transportation, which is a continuation of the annual Indonesian-German Digital Dialogue forum which in 2023 resulted in a Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) on Cooperation in the Field of Digitalization.
In the agreement, Indonesia and Germany agreed on six strategic areas of cooperation, namely digital Policy and Strategy, data Policy, internet processes and governance, digital technology, sustainable digital transformation and digital inclusion. Included in the discussion is the development of digital economic infrastructure and internet accessibility.
In addition to the IDDC main agenda, the minister also met with Japanese Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Communications Takuo Imagawa to discuss the importance of cross-border cooperation in facing digital challenges and taking advantage of the opportunities provided by global digital transformation.
Regarding the meeting with Germany and Japan, Meutya considered that digitalization was running very fast, crossing national borders, and the challenges were too big to face alone.
“Collaboration is key to ensuring that digitalization provides maximum benefits to Indonesian society and reduces or even eliminates risks that can arise,” Meutya said.
