What is Google Sites web creation platform?
Simply put, Google Sites is a free web creation platform by Google. It is intended for public websites, corporate intranets and private portals. It belongs to the Google Workspace business suite of productivity apps, but is also available through a stand-alone Google or Gmail account. Users can collaborate simultaneously to create web pages to form a wiki.

How Much Does Google Sites cost? Is there a hosting fee?
Google Sites is free to create, host, and maintain with a Google or Gmail account. No web hosting fees. However, if you use Google Sites in conjunction with Google Workspace, the cost will be included in the user license fee for all plans.

How difficult are Google Sites to use?
No HTML or CSS coding is required to work properly with Google Sites. Writing, editing and inserting images is a very easy task. This is similar to using a word processor like Google Docs. If you want, there are advanced options available to edit the code directly. You can embed HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and apply application scripts using “Embed from web”.

Can I use a custom domain (eg. a dot com)?
Yeah. Connect a domain you already own or purchase through a domain registrar. In your domain’S DNS settings, you can handle mapping custom web addresses and forwarding to your bare domain. Please note that, on average, a domain costs about $15 per year. For technical support, you can give us delegate access to manage your DNS records and ensure your website is active.

What types of websites can you create with Google Sites?
Information websites are best suited for Google Sites. Google Sites really excels in intranet apps because of its easy integration with apps like Google Drive, Google Calendar, etc. There are limited capabilities for shopping websites because Google Sites does not operate with PHP and other database-driven languages. There are currently no features for the login, register, member-only typing experience. So here are some examples of the types of sites you can design:

Can I create an ecommerce website with Google?
The lack of a proper CMS makes the prospect of managing a large ecommerce site on Google Sites impractical. However, a template has been created that uses the Pay Now button and a simple storefront.

Do I need to sign up for Google Workspace, formerly G Suite and Google Apps for Business?
We encourage clients to have or create a Google Workspace account for their Google Site. THIS Workspace Domain provides better security, stability, backup, and live support options. We will transfer the design to that account and it becomes yours.

How much storage space is there on Google Sites?
Under Google Apps, classic Google Sites has 10GB of storage space. That far exceeds most website needs. In a free Google account, 100MB per site is available, which is often enough for small websites.

Update: the new Google Sites does not use storage space in Google Drive or Google Workspace.

Can Google Sites be used for dynamic or interactive websites?
Yes, we can create slideshows, RSS feeds, mouse buttons, facebook badges, twitter feeds, and more. Please see our intranet gadgets gallery for some examples of our Google Sites plugins.

What coding languages can be used with Google Sites?
You can use HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, jQuery, Google Apps Scripts, and other code through the use of a dedicated Google Sites gadget. These modules can host this code and display it directly in the page content. On the actual page content, only HTML and CSS can be used.

What SEO options are available?
This is a common question. We all want to reach the top of Google or the search engine and be on the first page. While classic Google Sites used to support meta data entry such as meta descriptions, the new Google Sites has been simplified. This allows:

What can I connect with my Google Site?
Google Sites connects with many Google products such as Google Analytics, Google Webmaster Tools (Google Search Console), Google Plus (deprecated), Google Groups for Business & Google Currents (now Google Spaces), and other Google Apps for workspaces using Google Apps Script.

Where can I find free Google Sites templates?
There are many talented designers on Google Sites, but we recommend our own template marketplace. You can pay what you want for access to about 30 templates.

How do I sign in to my Google Site?
