Meutya encourages quadruple helix collaboration to accelerate digital transformation

Minister of communication and Digital Meutya Hafid encouraged the quadruple helix collaboration approach to accelerate digital transformation in Indonesia.

Meutya said cross-sector synergy is an absolute prerequisite for realizing a digital ecosystem that is inclusive, sustainable and has a positive impact on all people.

“One of the common synergy models is the quadruple helix concept which can be a reference for us in collaboration synergy,” said Meutya in Jakarta, Wednesday.

Quadruple helix is a collaborative system between government, academia, society, and business that aims to foster the growth of creative and innovative industries.

Meutya further explained that in this collaboration concept, the government takes on the role of a responsive regulator as well as an active facilitator.

The government is responsible for formulating progressive policies, building an equitable and quality digital infrastructure, and creating a conducive innovation ecosystem.

He emphasized that the government will continue to be present to ensure that digital transformation is fast and inclusive.

On the other hand, he said, academics or educational institutions play an important role in providing quality research and guiding digital talent that is relevant to industry needs.

Collaboration between universities, research institutions, and technology industry players continues to be encouraged to create a generation that is ready to face global challenges.

“Education that is relevant to the demands of the industry is the key to Indonesia’s long-term success,” he said.

“So there was a commitment such as from Microsoft to help, Huawei and others there are also some who have also committed to helping digital talent, we encourage them to work together with campuses,” continued Meutya.

The third collaboration is with industry players as the driving force of the economy. Meutya appealed to industry players, especially those engaged in telematics to strengthen their role in supporting government policies.

He said the government needed the industry to increase technology adoption, create innovative digital solutions and expand investment in the field of digital transformation.

“We believe that with close collaboration, the industry can become a key driver in accelerating digitalization,” he said, while affirming that the relationship between the government and industry players is an equal partner.

The fourth collaboration, said Meutya, is with communities and communities, which play an important role as users, supervisors, and co-creators of technology.

As users, society is perceived as a direct beneficiary of digital innovation. Organizations such as Masyarakat Telematics Indonesia (Mastel) are also encouraged to strengthen surveillance functions as well as contribute in creating technology solutions that suit national needs.

“This is what we hope together to create a strong digital ecosystem in accordance with the theme of this afternoon, namely orchestration and digital transformation collaboration as the key to accelerating prosperity for all Indonesian people,” said Meutya.
